We're in
Missoula Montana. It is so beautiful to be surrounded by mountains again. The boys turn one tomorrow; I can't believe it. (
I'll post pics of their birthday later this week). We've been traveling for a month and a half now. The boys are doing great. It has been a little tiring packing and unpacking the van, but everything has it place so it goes pretty fast. The boys are standing pretty well on their own, but no steps yet. They're playing really well together now to. It is fun to see them interacting so much.
We left San Francisco and jointed our team for a 4 day team
retreat/
re visioning. We made a lot of new plans for ministry in the Fall and had some great fun in the pool...of course the boys loved it.

Then we parted ways with the team an headed to
Kalamath Falls where we stayed a few days in a friends cabin...it was a huge blessing to relax and have fun with the boys. We took them out in the marsh for a little canoe ride-Weston was more interested in the yellow cup than the ride.

After we left
Kalamath Falls we headed to Bend to speak with a group about what we do in SF, saw an old friend from my childhood, and then went on to Portland to see Uncle Will. We went to the zoo which was a big hit. It is fun now that the boys are interested in thing like this. They get a little tired and bored, but overall they enjoyed it. They also got to see Grammy Burton who came to visit for a few days. She brought all kinds of fun toys, like this tunnel which they found to be an amazing thing....for a few minutes.

We left Portland and went to Cottage Grove, Or to speak at a church and then to Eugene to stay with some friends. Then we headed to Central Oregon, Christmas Valley (you can read more about it in our update email). It was
EXTREMELY dusty. They boys did amazingly well with the hot days and cold nights.

westonAfter we left Christmas Valley we started our way up to
Missoula. We stopped in
Pendleton to see Great-grandma Burton and Uncle Tom then stayed with a friend in Dayton, WA who just got her Optometry Licence (so we got free eye exams!) and now we're in
Missoula. We've been able to connect with a lot of friends. We're celebrating the boys one year birthday tomorrow...I think I'll make banana muffins??!!

Sorry it has been such a long time since we've updated this...I am still getting used to the blogging idea. Anyway, the last month has been pretty busy for us. We went away for the weekend with our church on a retreat, Luke's brother and youth group came to San Francisco and we visited with them, we've been to a few birthday bashes, we went to Southern California to Gabe's baby dedication (Laura's baby), I went away for three days by myself to rest and relax (Luke was super dad), we went camping for the first time with the boys at Lake Barryessa -we'll never go there again. It was fun to go camping and swimming in the Lake, but not a fun campground and VERY expensive! And on top of all of this we're planning a big summer support raising trip through Oregon and Montana for Aug-October. So, we've been pretty busy. They boys are growing like crazy. Both of them are crawling and pulling themselves up on everything. They laugh and cry and are just the most fun boys in the world. We're loving being parents and getting to see them grow and learn every day. We are very blessed. Jake is supposed to have a catheritization some time this month. It shouldn't be a big thing, just in and out. We're waiting to hear from the Dr. to schedule. We'll let you know more as we find out. No news from the genetisist either.

Everything I planted in my garden has sprouted! I love going outside to look at it because it is so organized and everything has its place. I guess this is the controll freak side of me that I've had to give up with twins. The bigger plants are ones I bought (the tomato plants) and ones a friend started from seed and gave to me. The strawberry plant was a birthday gift. It is nice to already have big plants. One of my tomato plants already has a bloom, so I'll at least get one cherry tomato (unless the birds get it first). If you're interested here is what I planted: cherry tomato, butterfly flower mix, dwarf sunflowers, cilantro, oregano, purple basil, beans, peas, swiss chard, lettuce, spinach, strawberries, carrots (small round ones made for containers), and broccoli. That is a lot but it all seems to be doing great.
One great thing about San Francisco is the free days. The first week of the month all museums are free on Tuesday and the Zoo is free on Wednesday. This month the free zoo day fell on May 6, which is my birthday, so we took our first family trip to the zoo. We had a great day. The boys favorite animal was the peacock. At least that's what we think. They looked at him for a long time. The day started off with free KFC (thanks to Liz for the email hint) and then the free zoo and then we had free dinner with a group that was visiting InnerCHANGE and then I had free cake and ice cream made by friends....a day full of free fun.
My garden is planted! I finally finished on Sunday. There was record heat (near 100) so my plants loved it, but then on Monday it was about 50...crazy San Francisco weather. I hope my seeds and plants are not in shock. I have 3 cherry tomato plants, a strawberry plant (soon to be planted), herbs, carrots, broccoli, peas, flowers, beans, lettuce, swiss chard and spinach all in my little 4 foot X 4 foot box. It makes me happy to have this project started.
The boys are starting to move around like crazy. They love to stand in there crib and bounce up and down. Jake loves chewing on the railing, it reminds me of when horses chew on fences...it sounds like he is grinding his teeth off.
