Jacob started crawling last night! It is crazy...he looks so small. Here is a video (the high pitch noise in the back is Weston cheering him on).

Everything I planted in my garden has sprouted! I love going outside to look at it because it is so organized and everything has its place. I guess this is the controll freak side of me that I've had to give up with twins. The bigger plants are ones I bought (the tomato plants) and ones a friend started from seed and gave to me. The strawberry plant was a birthday gift. It is nice to already have big plants. One of my tomato plants already has a bloom, so I'll at least get one cherry tomato (unless the birds get it first). If you're interested here is what I planted: cherry tomato, butterfly flower mix, dwarf sunflowers, cilantro, oregano, purple basil, beans, peas, swiss chard, lettuce, spinach, strawberries, carrots (small round ones made for containers), and broccoli. That is a lot but it all seems to be doing great.

Zoo and more

One great thing about San Francisco is the free days. The first week of the month all museums are free on Tuesday and the Zoo is free on Wednesday. This month the free zoo day fell on May 6, which is my birthday, so we took our first family trip to the zoo. We had a great day. The boys favorite animal was the peacock. At least that's what we think. They looked at him for a long time. The day started off with free KFC (thanks to Liz for the email hint) and then the free zoo and then we had free dinner with a group that was visiting InnerCHANGE and then I had free cake and ice cream made by friends....a day full of free fun.


My garden is planted! I finally finished on Sunday. There was record heat (near 100) so my plants loved it, but then on Monday it was about 50...crazy San Francisco weather. I hope my seeds and plants are not in shock. I have 3 cherry tomato plants, a strawberry plant (soon to be planted), herbs, carrots, broccoli, peas, flowers, beans, lettuce, swiss chard and spinach all in my little 4 foot X 4 foot box. It makes me happy to have this project started.






The boys are starting to move around like crazy. They love to stand in there crib and bounce up and down. Jake loves chewing on the railing, it reminds me of when horses chew on fences...it sounds like he is grinding his teeth off.
They are tons of fun...

Hawaii

Well, we made it home from Hawaii and had a great time. The boys loved the sand and loved seeing Granny and Gran-dad Burton and of course they loved playing with uncle will and jon. It was great to get some time without the boys and just hang out on the beach. I was kind of hoping we'd get quarantined because of the swine flu and then we'd never have to leave! Oh well, it is good to be home. They boys did great on the airplane; everyone said what good babies they were. We got asked about a thousand times if they were twins...I wanted to make up some story of why they look alike and dress alike but are not twins, but I didn't come up with one.

Sorry that it has been so long since I've posted on here. We've been keeping busy. We had our team vision retreat a couple of weeks ago. We all went to Napa and talked about what life is going to look like for this next season with babies and a huge team. It was great to revision our lives. Luke and I are in the process of looking at our weekly schedule and making it more manageable. On Easter we had a couple of friends from the street over for lunch. They made really yummy deviled eggs and we watched a movie. Yesterday I build a garden bed. It felt great to get my hands dirty and to do some "manual labor" again. I'm excited to plant veggies, flowers and strawberries soon. The nice thing about San Francisco is that you can garden all year long! It was 85 degrees today...the boys would not go to bed; too hot I guess. We are going to Hawaii on Wednesday with Luke's parents and brothers...I can't wait.

Here are the little ones eating cereal. Jacob loves it, but Weston...well you can see in the video. We're going to try carrots tomorrow. I was steaming them tonight with the hopes of having it ready, but my pot ran out of water and I scorched the pot and the carrots ended up tasting like burnt charcoal; needless to say, I would hate for their first taste of carrots to be a horrible experience, so we'll try again tomorrow. It has been such nice weather here, that we're taking a trip to the beach tomorrow. Luke found his dream camera lens at a thrift store, so we're going to walk to the beach and try it out. We had another doctor appointment for Jake today with the GI (gastroenterologist) but he didn't have much information for us until we get the genetic results back (in about a month). He did say that his liver functioning was normal which is good news. So we're just waiting to hear back from the geneticist. Enjoy the video.

First tooth!

Ready for the sun

Well, all the drooling and crankiness has payed off, Weston has his first tooth! His lower right tooth poked through today. You can barely see it, but it is there and we can feel it. It is just a matter of time before Jacob gets one too.

They can sit up on their own now. They do fall over once in a while so they have to be surrounded by pillows, but they are getting really good at it. They have started eating solid foods (rice cereal) and Jacob loves it. He picked it up right away. Weston...not so much. He just laughs and spits it out. They're ready for Hiawaii (we're more ready than they are), but they look the part. They love to be naked and suck on their toes too. They are getting to be a lot of fun. They're not sleeping very well at night so Luke and I feel like zombies...

We just got back (last week) from southern California where we spent a few days with our friend Laura. She just had a gorgeous baby boy named Gabriel River William...he is adorable. He was born on February 27, 7lbs.10oz. I told Laura to call us as soon as she went into labor. Her sister called me Friday morning at 1:30 am. Of course we were awake...(it was one of Jacob's no sleeping nights). We packed up our stuff and left the next afternoon. It took us about 8 hours to get to So Cal; the boys didn't stay occupied very well in the car but it wasn't too bad. We had a few blow ups and "i hate the car" screaming matches, but we made it. I met Gabe that night and stayed the night with Laura in the hospital the next night while Luke and the boys stayed in a hotel down the street. We stayed until Monday when she was able to leave the hospital. It was such a blessing to get to spend time with her and her new baby. She was so excited to meet Jacob and Weston. As you can see, they hit it off. I'm sure the three of them will have lots of fun growing up together. It is amazing that we have babies the same age..who would have guessed this two years ago when we met her in the park? God works in amazing ways.
